The bill, met with bipartisan opposition, would provide a $1.5 trillion dollar tax cut to the super-rich and corporations, raise taxes on 86 million middle class households  more than half of Americas middle class  and pave the way for cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.\n\nThe simple truth is, this Republican tax bill is an underhanded and unconscionable attack on Americas middle class  the very people who constitute the foundation of our Nations greatness, Nolan said. This Republican bill hands trillions to the super rich, raises taxes on millions of everyday Americans, and sets the stage for the privatization and gutting of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. I voted no on this bill and will continue to vehemently oppose it in every way I can.\n\nThe most recent Tax Policy Center analysis of the conference report indicates that 83% of the tax cuts under H.R.1 will go to the top 1% of Americans.
