Congressman Ralph Norman (SC-05) has released the following statement after voting in favor to pass The Tax Cuts & Jobs Act:\r\n\"American families, workers and job creators were given a much-deserved and much-needed tax relief today with the passage of The Tax Cuts & Jobs Act. This tax reform bill is pro-family and pro-growth.\r\nFamilies and individuals at every income level will get a tax cut so that they can keep more of their hard-earned paychecks. A family of four making $73,000 a year will receive a tax cut of $2,059. The Child Tax Credit is expanded from $1,000 to $2,000, to help parents with the cost of raising children. This plan doubles the standard deduction for everyone\r\nJob creators will see a lower corporate tax rate at 21%, allowing us to be more globally competitive. The inclusion of an immediate expensing of capital investment will allow a farmer to purchase a tractor to expand operations or allow a mechanic to add a new bay to the shop.\r\nFor the first time in 31 years, the House passed a comprehensive tax reform bill that breaks the status quo. I look forward to sending this bill to President Trumps desk before Christmas so that we can create jobs, increase paychecks, grow our economy, and improve lives.\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://norman.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=65"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 3.7713730707764626, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
