Nunn. \u201cAs a twenty-year combat veteran and current Colonel in the Air Force, I\u2019m committed to protecting our national security. That means securing our Southern Border, stopping China in its tracks, bolstering our allies, and supporting our men and women in uniform throughout their career. This bill is a win for national security, a win for our troops, and a win for the future of our nation.\u201d\n\nThe final package includes Rep. Nunn\u2019s proposal to create a strategic partnership between the Defense Innovation Unit and the Israeli Ministry of Defense to streamline access to emerging technologies for the U.S. and our allies. The legislation also includes landmark investments in servicemember quality of life, border security, and deterring Chinese aggression:\n\nProvides junior enlisted servicemembers with a 14.5% pay raise.\n\nSupports the deployment of National Guard at our Southern Border to intercept illegal aliens and drugs.\n\nIncludes dozens of sections that address PRC security threats and economic security issues.\n\nPrevents Chinese espionage in our military, supply chains, and research institutions.\n\nExpands U.S.-Israel military exercises and fully fund cooperative missile defense programs.\n\nIncreases funding for U.S. defense initiatives in the Indo-Pacific to bolster Taiwan\u2019s defense and support Indo-Pacific allies.\n\nSaves $31 billion by cutting inefficient programs, obsolete weapons, and bloated Pentagon bureaucracy.\n\nCounters antisemitism by prohibiting sale of goods at Department of Defense commissaries and exchanges from any entities that have or are engaged in a boycott of Israel.\n\nThe bill now awaits consideration in the Senate.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T22:13:55Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://nunn.house.gov/2024/12/12/nunn-amendment-included-in-national-defense-package/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.3265819288790226, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
