Pete Olson (TX-22) today voted in support of H.R. 2, the Farm Bill, which includes needed certainty for Texas and American farmers. The bill passed the House by a vote of 369-47.\nThis is a big win for Texas' farmers, ranchers and producers, Rep. Pete Olson said. As our region continues recovering from Hurricane Harvey, many farming communities and crops were destroyed along the coast of Texas. Today we provided sound policies for disaster assistance for current and future Texas famers. We also strengthened our place as a global trading power by increasing our ability to trade with foreign markets. Agriculture is a critical part of our Texas economy. I was proud to support our farmers and our great state.\nAgriculture Improvement Act Conference Report\n Reforms and reauthorizes farm and nutrition assistance programs for five years, all within a budget-neutral framework.\n  Strengthens the farm safety net and provides farmers and ranchers much-needed certainty and stability.\n\tPrice Loss Coverage, Agriculture Risk Coverage, Commodity Loans, Dairy Margin Coverage, Livestock Disaster Programs, and Crop Insurance are all maintained and strengthened.\n  Improves incentive-based conservation programs like the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).\n\tStrengthens promotion of U.S. agricultural exports through the Market Access Program (MAP) and other trade initiatives.\n\tReduces the threat of catastrophic wildfires by renewing a key categorical exclusion (CE) and expanding its purpose to allow for expedited reduction of hazardous fuels in our forests.\n\tHelps rural communities to combat the opioid crisis and improves broadband delivery.\n\tFunds key animal disease prevention and management initiatives, including the stockpiling of footandmouth disease (FMD) vaccine.\n\tPreserves the Administration's regulatory flexibility on SNAP, including USDA's ability to reign in states who abuse the waiver process.\n\tEnsures political accountability and that Governors support state requests for ABAWD waivers.\n\tReduces state allowances for ABAWD exemptions from 15% to 12%.\n\tEliminates state bonuses and ensures SNAP is administered in the most effective and efficient manner possible.\n\tEstablishes a National Accuracy Clearinghouse to prevent SNAP recipients from receiving SNAP benefits from multiple states.\n\tAuthorizes USDA to audit and inspect state records related to SNAP.\n\tRequires case management to help transition people back to work.\n ###\nMedia Contact: Cate Cullen\n\t202-225-5951", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://olson.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/olson-acts-to-help-texas-farmers"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6051679849624634, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
