The Bureau of Justice Assistance, a division of the Department of Justice\u2019s Office of Justice Programs, awarded the grants to help strengthen local law enforcement, enhance community safety, and fund innovative crime prevention efforts.\n\n\u201cThis funding is a significant boost for our communities, empowering local law enforcement with the tools and resources they need to enhance public safety,\u201d said Pallone. \u201cFrom addressing violent crime to supporting crime prevention and mental health programs, these grants represent a commitment to ensuring our neighborhoods are safe and equitable for everyone.\u201d\n\nNeptune Township will receive $48,501, while Perth Amboy will be awarded $104,432. These funds will enable local officials to invest in programs that combat crime, assist victims, and promote justice system reform.\n\nThe Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program is the leading federal source of criminal justice funding for state and local jurisdictions. Named in honor of NYPD Officer Edward Byrne, who was killed in the line of duty, the program funds a range of initiatives, including law enforcement, drug treatment, mental health services, and community corrections.
