In his remarks, Pappas expressed his thanks and support for law enforcement officers in New Hampshire, highlighted local police for the important work they do in their communities, and called on Congress to invest in public safety infrastructure, technology, training, and recruitment and retention efforts to support 21st-century policing.\n\nEarlier this week, Pappas introduced a bipartisan resolution honoring the lives and legacies of members of law enforcement killed in the line of duty. The resolution was introduced during National Police Week and recognizes the 282 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2023 and those whose stories were not told until now.\n\nRead a transcript of Pappas\u2019s remarks:\n\nThank you, Mr. Speaker.\n\nI rise as we mark Police Week to express my thanks and support for law enforcement officers in New Hampshire and across the country who are dedicated to keeping our communities safe.\n\nOur police answer the call each and every day, and the work they do is indispensable to fight crime, keep the peace, and provide the kind of assistance that our families and neighbors need.\n\nAcross New Hampshire, I've had the great privilege to get to know so many of our law enforcement officials, and I'm grateful for their professionalism, their courage, and their leadership.\n\nRecently, I had the chance to visit the department in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, to see the long-needed upgrades that they're making from a community project grant secured through our office.\n\nCongress must continue to invest in public safety infrastructure, technology, training, and recruitment and retention efforts to support 21st-century policing.\n\nAnd we must commit to valuing and supporting those who swear an oath to protect and serve our communities.\n\nThank you, and I yield back.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T18:12:30Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://pappas.house.gov/media/press-releases/video-pappas-honors-new-hampshire-law-enforcement"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.5382378585636616, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
