In addition to a two-year suspension of the medical device tax, Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) secured other important provisions in the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act to give more certainty and predictability to taxpayers. Minnesota families and small businesses cant plan for the future when Congress passes tax policy at the last second, or even worse, retroactively. By making charitable giving and other important tax provisions permanent, were giving more certainty to businesses and hardworking taxpayers, which will help grow our economy.\r\n\r\n\tProvisions authored by Congressman Paulsen included in the PATH Act are:\r\n\r\n\t IRA Charitable Rollover  Allows IRA owners aged 70  and older to rollover required withdrawals to charities without being required to count the money as income. This popular provision has been renewed several times since 2005 and is made permanent in the PATH Act.\r\n\r\n\t Removal of Bond Requirements for Small Brewers  Currently, small brewers face biweekly bonding requirements that require time and money to meet. Under the PATH Act, small brewers will only need to meet these bonding requirements quarterly.\r\n\r\n\t Increasing Foreign Investment  A provision that encourages foreign investment in the U.S. by easing tax and administrative burdens on foreign investors in U.S. mutual funds.\r\n\r\n\t Tax Rate for Small Mutual Insurance Companies  Cuts taxes for small mutual insurance companies, allowing them to grow and better serve local communities across the country.\r\n\r\n\t Expanding the Definition of Hard Cider  Modifies and broadens definition of hard cider so that more small, craft cider makers will qualify for a lower excise tax rate.\r\n\r\n\tCongressman Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\r\n\tFor more information on Congressman Paulsens work in Congress visitpaulsen.house.gov.\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\r\n\t###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://paulsen.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=22&itemid=1780"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9790200274437666, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
