The bill aims to reaffirm guaranteed health care access, ensure that enrollees cannot have benefits excluded from a plan due to a pre-existing condition, and that patients will not pay more based on their health care status.\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\r\n\tI understand that people want and deserve clarity about preexisting protections and the law. Sick Americans don't deserve to be treated unfairly because they have a pre-existing condition through no fault of their own,said Congressman Paulsen.This legislation underscores the importance of preserving protections for Minnesotans with pre-existing conditions and guarantee they're able to access affordable health coverage.\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\r\n\tSpecifically, the bill would maintain the:\r\n \r\n\t\r\n\t\tRequirement for health insurance to cover preexisting conditions,\r\n\t\r\n\t\tRequirement for health insurers to accept every employer and every individual applying for coverage,\r\n\t\r\n\t\tProhibition against health insurers discriminating against individuals based on health status factors,\r\n\t\r\n\t\tProhibition against collecting genetic information in connection with issuing health insurance, and\r\n\t\r\n\t\tRequirements for workplace wellness programs connected to health insurance.\r\n \r\n\r\n\t\r\n\r\n\tLast year, Paulsen voted in favor of the American Health Care Act, which included the following provision (Sec. 137(b))\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\r\n\tSEC. 137.
