It\u2019s been two and a half weeks since the U.S. House of Representatives had a Speaker. Yet, we\u2019ve all been sent home.\n\n\u201cWe need a functional Congress. Our federal government and the services we all rely on are less than one month away from running out of money. People continue to struggle with rising costs as our economy recovers from a global pandemic. We have urgent international needs, like the conflicts in Israel, Gaza, and Ukraine, that we must address for the long-term security of the United States and the world.\n\n\u201cThere is too much at stake for us to allow the far-right extremists in Congress to hold the rest of us and our government hostage. Republicans have been unable to select a party leader for weeks and I am extremely disappointed that they continue to choose partisanship over coming together with Democrats to find a bipartisan path forward.
