I grew up in this district and served in the Colorado state legislature for a decade before heading to D.C. to increase opportunities for regular people like me,\u201d said Pettersen. \u201cWhile far too many people in Washington are focused on partisanship and dysfunction, I\u2019ve spent this first year working on delivering real results. We\u2019ve worked on legislation to address the opioid crisis, increase access to affordable housing and childcare, and improve lives across Colorado. I\u2019ve met with people across our eight counties and my team has helped thousands of residents, secured millions in grant funding for our district, and so much more.\u201d\n\nClick here to watch the video, click here to download\n\nDuring her first year in office, Pettersen has delivered for her district, closing over 1,000 constituent cases, returning over $3 million to residents through casework, helping secure $74 million in grants, and responding to 100,000 constituent emails, calls, and letters. Her office has held dozens of events and Pettersen has attended more than 160 community meetings, events, and tours across the eight counties that make up Colorado\u2019s 7th Congressional District.\n\nIn Washington, Pettersen has introduced 29 bills, 23 of which are bipartisan this year, including three that were passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. She cosponsored 308 bills this year, including measures to lower costs, support veterans and seniors, protect women\u2019s reproductive health care, fund child care and affordable housing options, and protect the environment.\n\nSome highlights of Pettersen\u2019s work this year include:\n\nAddressing the opioid crisis\n\nIntroduced nearly a dozen bills to reduce the import of fentanyl, expand resources for those with substance use disorders, and increase access to naloxone\n\nServes as a member of the Bipartisan Addiction and Mental Health Task Force\n\nIntroduced a bill that passed the House to help combat drug cartels bringing illegal synthetic drugs, like fentanyl, into Colorado and communities across the country\n\nIntroduced a bill that passed the House as a part of the SUPPORT Act to bolster recovery programs\n\nAddressing local concerns\n\nUrging USPS to address postal delays and other issues in rural areas, including sending hundreds of constituent complaints to the Postmaster General, and introducing legislation on specific postal challenges\n\nIntroduced measure to permanently authorize PILT to support counties with public lands\n\nIntroduced Shelter Act to help residents harden their homes and businesses against natural disasters\n\nIntroduced the School Safety Drill Research Act to keep kids safe and mentally well\n\nBrought a bill to address illegal street-racing after hearing concerns from residents in Westminster and Broomfield\n\nHelped secure retention bonuses for Florence Correction Officers\n\nUrging the VA to prioritize the construction of a medical clinic to help veterans in Fremont County\n\nHelped get water beads off the shelves of stores to protect the children they were being marketed towards\n\nPushing to address environmental concerns, including air quality, infrastructure at contaminated sites, and protecting water and other natural resources\n\nServing on the Financial Services Committee\n\nWorking to hold banks accountable, introduced the Stopping Bonuses for Unsafe and Unsound Banking Act\n\nUsing position as Vice Ranking Member on the National Security subcommittee to crack down on traffickers utilizing the financial system\n\nAddressing housing affordability, an issue Pettersen championed at the state level\n\nIntroduced the YIMBY Act to cut red tape around housing construction\n\nIntroduced Manufactured Housing Tenant\u2019s Bill of Rights\n\nGetting ahead of technological threats", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T01:14:16Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://pettersen.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=528"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7715672254562378, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
