Moments of silence mean nothing without moments of action. Thoughts and prayers mean nothing if we don't take steps to prevent future tragedies. Our children are watching. Will my colleagues in the Senate stand by while kids live in fear, or will they have the strength to finally act?\"\n\nThe Protecting Our Children Act includes the following titles that take steps to reduce gun violence in this country and keep people safe:\n\nRaising the purchasing age for semi-automatic weapons from 18 to 21 years old (Title 1)\n\nCracking down on gun trafficking and straw purchases to get illegal guns off of our streets (Title 2)\n\nSubjecting ghost gun purchases to background check requirements (Title 3)\n\nStrengthening safe storage requirements to protect children from accidental shootings (Title 4)\n\nClosing the bump stock loophole to ban these deadly tools from civilian use (Title 5)\n\nOutlawing high-capacity magazines, which are designed for killing en masse and have been the accessory of choice in the bloodiest mass shootings (Title 6)", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T02:39:01Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://pocan.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/pocan-takes-action-on-gun-violence"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7800930179655552, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
