The Congressman was presented the Defender of Housing Award by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).\u00a0 Ashley Richards, the State President of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Maine, presented the award to the Congressman Friday in a ceremony in Orono.\n\u00a0\n\u00a0\nCongressman Poliquin released the following statement:\n\u00a0\n\u201cOwning a home is a goal that all Maine families should have the opportunity to achieve,\u201d said Congressman Poliquin.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s important that our federal government doesn\u2019t stand in the way of our Maine families achieving homeownership with harmful policies and roadblocks. In Congress, I\u2019m proud to be working for our Maine families to make the dream of homeownership more achievable.\u201d\n\u00a0\n\u201cCongressman Poliquin understands the key national issues facing home builders and remodelers here in Maine,\u201d said HBA president Ashley Richards.\u00a0 \u201cThe unfortunate effect of too much legislation and regulation is that it drives up the cost of housing, making it more difficult for families to afford a home.
