Sold (sadly) to the highest bidder.\u00a0 Against the will of the people, the FCC rolled back Net Neutrality protections today, effectively ending the internet as we know it and stifling the free flow of information upon which our economy depends,\u201d\u00a0said Polis.\u00a0 \u201cKnowing exactly how critical the internet is to innovation, I won\u2019t give up on Net Neutrality, and am sponsoring a congressional fix.\u201d\r\n\"What does this mean for the internet? \u00a0Well, the fight continues in: the Courts - several advocacy groups have already promised to sue the FCC over Net Neutrality regulations.\u00a0 The states - state and municipalities will now face more pressure to consider providing high speed open internet as a utility.\u00a0 Congress - lawmakers can make laws to reinstate net neutrality.\u00a0 I am a sponsor of a bill to save net neutrality and block the FCC rollback of net neutrality,\u201d\u00a0Polis continued.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\r\nPolis is an ardent advocate for Net Neutrality protections.\u00a0\r\nHe is a co-sponsor of the Save Net Neutrality Act (H.R. 4585) to stop the FCC\u2019s Net Neutrality rule reversal.\u00a0 \u00a0\r\nHe has sent several\u00a0letters\u00a0to the FCC asking that they not repeal Net Neutrality protections.\u00a0\u00a0\r\nFollowing findings that over half of Net Neutrality comments submitted to the FCC during its public comment period were fake,\u00a0Polis called for starting the comment period over and delaying the FCC decision.\u00a0\r\nHe offered an amendment on Tuesday to the Higher Education Act Reauthorization to prevent educational materials from being blocked or censored by internet providers as a result of the Net Neutrality rollback.\u00a0\u00a0\r\nPolis\u2019s office has received 1,500 calls and over 5,700 emails on Net Neutrality, all against the FCC changes.\u00a0\r\nPrior to serving in Congress, Polis also founded several startup and tech companies, including ProFlowers.com and Techstars.\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://polis.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398509"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9364001452922821, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
