The funding will support the Kearny Prevention Coalition Drug-Free Communities Support Project over the coming year. The grant is a continuation of federal support for the program, whose current project period runs through September 2027.\n\n\u201cPreventing substance use starts with strong communities and making sure our young people have the support they need,\u201d said Congresswoman Pou. \u201cThis $125,000 federal award will help the Kearny Prevention Coalition continue its vital work with young people and families. I am proud to have helped secure this funding and will keep fighting to bring federal dollars home to Kearny and communities across our district.\u201d\n\n\u201cFighting drug dependence and abuse is one of the most important responsibilities of government and a team effort. Federal support like this is critical. I thank Congresswoman Pou for helping secure this money for Kearny,\u201d said Kearny Mayor Carol Jean Doyle.\n\nThe Drug-Free Communities Support Program provides federal funding to community coalitions working to prevent and reduce substance use among young Americans. This award is administered by the CDC\u2019s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.\n\nSince taking office, Congresswoman Pou has worked to bring federal resources back to the 35 cities and towns within New Jersey\u2019s Ninth District.
