Overall, the Coast Guard is responsible for 328 miles of navigable waterways in the region.\n\nIn the letter, the lawmakers wrote: \u201cWe write regarding our significant concerns with the reduction of Coast Guard personnel and the potential removal of equipment and vessels at STA Pittsburgh. This decision will undoubtedly have steep economic costs for southwestern Pennsylvania. We must keep this waterway safe and navigable to protect the region\u2019s economy and way of life.\u201d\n\nThroughout his tenure in Congress, Reschenthaler has championed numerous efforts for the Allegheny, Ohio, and Monongahela Rivers:\n\nReschenthaler requested $205 million for Fiscal Year 2025 to physically complete construction work at the Montgomery Lock and Dam.\n\nIn October 2024, Reschenthaler led a letter to the U.S. Army Corps to alleviate dredging issues on the Monongahela River.\n\nIn August 2024, Reschenthaler led a letter to the U.S. Army Corps(USACE) urging them to fix the water depth issues allowing the river to continue supporting southwestern Pennsylvania\u2019s economy.\n\nIn March 2024, Reschenthaler secured $41 million to help complete the Monongahela River Project.\n\nIn November 2023, Reschenthaler led a letter to the U.S. Army Corps outlining concerns for commercial and recreational access to the Allegheny River \u2013 specifically the lock and dam system.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T22:13:55Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://reschenthaler.house.gov/media/press-releases/reschenthaler-fetterman-pa-colleagues-sound-alarm-at-coast-guard-station-pittsburgh"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.2893439270555973, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
