This legislation, modeled after a popular measure in England, will create a mechanism in the Treasury that will reimburse restaurants for 50% of diners' meals.\r\nThe coronavirus pandemic is impacting every American. As we continue to safely reopen, we have to help businesses rebuild, said Rep Tom Rice. The America Dines Out Act will help move us toward a quick economic recovery.\r\nMy district contains the Grand Strand and the Pee Dee which is home to over 1,800 restaurants. These business owners were forced to close their doors, and the America Dines Out Act will help them reopen.\r\nThe America Dines Out Act will support businesses through their reopening. Here's how:\r\nWithin two weeks of enactment, the bill directs the Treasury to create a mechanism to reimburse restaurants for 50% of a diners' meals. The limitations on the program are:\r\n \r\nThe 50% discount is provided up to $12 per diner per day.\r\nThe discount only applies to food and non-alcoholic beverages.\r\nThe discount only applies if the customer dines in the restaurant.\r\nThe discount only applies on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.\r\n \r\nRestaurants would submit for reimbursement.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://rice.house.gov/press-releases?ID=27C1093F-B8F1-4FB4-8E27-F5E949CE494A"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.8255459144711494, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
