Richmond. “Judge Collins fought for freedom and fairness in Louisiana at a time when that took tremendous courage. Through his role in the Civil Rights Movement, he broke down barriers so that African-Americans would not be treated as second class citizens. Officer Daryle Holloway, who was killed in the line of duty, was an upstanding officer in the New Orleans Police Department and a model for community policing.
“It was truly a bittersweet moment when President Obama signed this legislation the same day we laid to rest another brave NOPD officer killed in the line of duty, Officer Natasha Hunter. It serves as reminder that every time our officers put on the uniform they are risking their lives to serve and protect us.
“I applaud the Senate and the President for their quick action to pass and approve this legislation. It is an honor to sponsor these bills that will commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of these two admirable men for generations to come.”
After passing both chambers of Congress and gaining the President’s signature, H.R. 2458, a bill to designate the post office located at 5351 Lapalco Boulevard in Marrero, Louisiana, as the “Lionel R.
