Cedric Richmond (LA-02) announced the availability of more than $15.4 million in federal funding for flood recovery projects throughout Louisiana. The resources will go towards reimbursing schools in Baton Rouge for remediation activities, improvements to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, and debris-related activities in Ascension Parish following last August\u2019s severe storms and flooding:\n\u00a0\n\u201cWe are continuing to fight for every resource that will help us get closer to a full recovery,\u201d said Rep. Richmond.\u00a0 \u201cThese grants will help Ascension Parish cover the costs of debris removal, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank repair their facilities, and schools throughout Baton Rouge provide temporary facilities as well as afford necessary maintenance so their doors could remain open after the disastrous flooding last summer. While this help is appreciated, we still have a lot of work ahead of us to make these communities whole again.\u201d\n\u00a0\nFEMA grants announced today include:\n\u00a0\nASCENSION (PARISH)  \n\tThis award provides $5,920,572.99 in federal funding to Ascension Parish for debris related activities as a result of Severe Storms and Flooding.\u00a0\u00a0\n\u00a0\nCRISTO REY BATON ROUGE FRANCISCAN HIGH SCHOOL  \n\tThis award provides $2,680,466.24 in funding to Cristo Rey Baton Rouge Franciscan High School (Cristo Rey), to provide temporary facilities which are required as a result of damages withstood to the school during Severe Storms and Flooding.\n\u00a0\nGREATER BATON ROUGE FOOD BANK  \n\tThis award provides $1,032,101.20 in federal funding to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank for their distribution facility as a result of Severe Storms and Flooding.\n\u00a0\nEAST BATON ROUGE SCHOOL BOARD  \n\tThe award provides $1,211,377.76 in funding to the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, to provide funding associated with remediation activities at Glen Oaks Park Elementary School as a result of Severe Storms and Flooding.\n\u00a0\nEAST BATON ROUGE SCHOOL BOARD  \n\tThe award provides $1,698,012.21 in funding to the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, to provide funding associated with remediation activities at Brookstown Magnet Middle School as a result of Storms and Flooding.\n\u00a0\nEAST BATON ROUGE SCHOOL BOARD  \n\tThis award will provide $2,930,976.66 in federal funding to East Baton Rouge School Board (EBRSB) for Emergency Protective Measures as a result of Storms and Flooding.\n\u00a0\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://richmond.house.gov/press-releases/rep-richmond-announces-more-154m-grants-ascension-parish-greater-baton-rouge-food"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.216669265180826, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
