Included in this years NDAA are three sections authored by Congressman Denver Riggleman (R-VA) whichwill strengthenAmerica'sArmed Forces. The Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act fulfills one of Congress' most important constitutional duties: to provide for the common defense. This bipartisan, bicameral agreement puts our troops and America's security first by continuing to rebuild our military, positioning our Armed Forces to meet the next wave of threats outlined in the National Defense Strategy, reforming the business side of the Pentagon, and most importantly, caring for our service members and their families.\nPassing the National Defense Authorization Act is one of Congress' most important constitutional duties. It is imperative that Congress pass a bill to support the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and provide them with the resources they need, said Congressman Riggleman. I am especially pleased that three sections I authored were included in the final version of the bill. Those sections will equip our armed forces with the skills they need and deter our enemies' threats.\nCongressman Riggleman's Sections:\nSec. 357. Pilot Program to Train Skilled Technicians in Critical Shipbuilding Skills:\nThis program will help theDepartment of the Navy close the gap in our nation's workforce that threatens our global competitiveness and military capabilities. It will help America modernize its workforce and create a pipeline of new employees who support our security apparatus.\nSec. 1226. Expansion of Availability of Financial Assets of Iran to Victims of Terrorism\nThis bill to help terrorist victims and their families collect financial compensation from the perpetrators of the horrific 1983 terrorist attack at the Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. 241 American lives were lost.\nSec. 7133. Report and Briefings on Financial Networks and Financial Methods of the Government of North Korea:\nThis section will require congressional oversite on the financial transactions taken by the government of North Korea.
