Rodney Davis released the following statement following the announcement that the Trump Administration has reached an agreement with Mexico and Canada in the renegotiation of NAFTA. \"This is great news for American workers and consumers. The modernized trade deal will build on the economic growth we have seen and create new, good-paying jobs. I am especially pleased with the expansion of the dairy market for American farmers and ranchers, as well as the provisions to incentivize more auto manufacturing and higher manufacturing wages. I applaud the Trump Administration for their diligent work in securing a better deal for the American people and I look forward to moving this process forward.\"  More Information on the USMCA American Auto Manufacturing and Jobs  \r\n-Increasing United States and regional content in automobiles and auto parts by requiring that 75 percent of auto content be produced in North America and that key core parts always be originating.   \r\n-Incentivizing the use of high-wage manufacturing labor in the automotive sector by requiring that 40 to 45 percent of automotive content be made by workers earning an average base wage of at least $16 per hour. Labor  \r\n-Includes a new Labor Chapter that brings labor obligations into the core of the agreement and makes them fully enforceable.   \r\n-Requires parties to adopt and maintain in law and practice labor rights as recognized by the International Labor Organization, an Annex on Worker Representation in Collective Bargaining in Mexico, and new provisions to take measures to prohibit the importation of goods produced by forced labor and to address violence against workers exercising their labor rights. Agriculture  \r\n-Includes fair treatment for America's dairy and wheat farmers. Canada will eliminate its Class 7 program that allows low-priced dairy ingredients to undersell United States dairy products in Canada and in third country markets. Canada also will provide equal treatment when assessing the quality of imported wheat.  \r\n-Canada will provide new access for the full range of United States dairy products, eggs and poultry.  \r\n-Sets unprecedented standards for agricultural biotechnology, establishes strong commitments to reduce trade-distorting policies, and enhances rules for science-based sanitary and phytosanitary measures. 21st Century Economy  \r\n-Contains a modernized, high-standard Intellectual Property (IP) chapter that provides strong and effective protection and enforcement of IP rights critical to driving innovation, creating economic growth, and supporting American jobs. The chapter includes 10 years of data protection for biologic drugs and a robust scope of products eligible for protection.  \r\n-The new Digital Trade chapter allows for the expansion of trade and investment in innovative products and services, including rules to ensure that data can be transferred cross-border and to minimize limits on where data can be stored and processed.
