This legislation would make improvements to the cleanup process aimed at helping communities remediate and redevelop contaminated property.\n\u201cThis legislation will help clean up Nevada\u2019s contaminated lands and create opportunities for economic development for both businesses and consumers,\u201d Rosen said. \u201cThis bill significantly improves the Brownfields Program, empowering states and local communities to work together to help redevelop properties and create jobs for Nevadans. I will continue to support commonsense policies that promote environmental stewardship and help revitalize our state's economy.\u201d\nBACKGROUND: H.R. 3017 reauthorizes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s Brownfields Program at an annual level of $200 million through FY 2022. This program provides grants and technical assistance for cleanup efforts on land that was once used for industrial purposes or commercial use. Additionally, this bill will allow nonprofits and community development groups to be eligible for Brownfields grants.
