He defended the Jewish people with an iron fist while relentlessly seeking peace and extending an open hand to Israel\u2019s neighbors.\n\u201cHe chose not to be a cynic, famously \u2018preferr[ing] to live as an optimist\u2019 because \u2018optimists and pessimists die the same way, they just live differently.\u2019 Shimon Peres did more with his time on Earth than most people could accomplish in 3 or 4 lifetimes.\n\u201cMay his memory be a blessing for the world to come.
