Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization, challenging Mississippi\u2019s 15-week abortion ban:\n\n\u201cOverturning Roe v. Wade would be a blatant attack on reproductive freedom and violate nearly 50 years of legal precedent,\u201d said Congresswoman Ross. \u201cThe vast majority of Americans agree that women should be able to make their own decisions about their health and get the care they need. If the Supreme Court overturns Roe, many more states in the U.S., including North Carolina, could be emboldened to enact abortion bans, disproportionally hurting women with disabilities, minorities, and those in low-income and rural areas. I will continue to fight to ensure millions of women across the U.S. have access to safe, legal abortions.\n\n\u201cAs the Supreme Court takes up this case that could determine the fate of women\u2019s access to reproductive health care for years to come, we are reminded that we cannot rely solely on our courts to protect this right. Earlier this year, the House of Representatives passed the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act to ensure that all people have access to the reproductive freedoms they are guaranteed by law.
