Keith Rothfus, R-Sewickley.\nRothfus, who represents the 12th Congressional District, sponsored the Expanding Access to Treatment Act, REGROUP Act and CODE RED Act.\nThe access legislation called for helping offset the costs of training clinicians in federally qualified health centers and rural health clinics.REGROUP supported reauthorizing the Department of Justice's comprehensive opioid abuse program through 2023.CODE RED dealt with creating a coordinated tracking system for federally funded initiatives and grant programs dealing with opioid and substance abuse.\nIn Western Pennsylvania and across the nation, the opioid crisis continues to destroy lives, hurt families, and plague entire communities, Rothfus said in a press release.\nI applaud President Trump for signing this much-needed legislation into law, which includes several of my bipartisan bills to help those suffering from an addiction and keep our loved ones and communities safe.\nThe SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, which overwhelmingly passed the House by a vote of 393 to 8 and 98 to 1 in the Senate, combined ideas from approximately 70 bills designed to address the opioid epidemic.\nAmong its many provisions, the legislation refunded the 21st Century Cures Act, expanded a program to have more first responders carrying naloxone and took steps designed to limit the overprescription of opioid painkillers.\nTrump said: We are going to end the scourge of drug addiction in America.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://rothfus.house.gov/media-center/in-the-news/new-opioid-act-includes-parts-rothfus-legislation"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.5226621180772781, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
