Rush voted in support of H.R. 5430, the United StatesMexicoCanada Agreement (USMCA) Implementation Act, which includes a series of transformative improvements to the Trump Administration's USMCA as originally proposed and will set a new floor for standards in future U.S. trade agreements.\nIllinois depends on our reciprocal trading relationship with Canada and Mexico, which supports almost half a million jobs in Illinois. However, I have also seen the damage wrought by well-meaning free trade agreements, such as NAFTA, that have caused many well-paying jobs to leave my district. That is why I am pleased to see the implementation of the USMCA, which includes key provisions secured by House Democrats.\nIn particular, this trade agreement will create a new labor enforcement mechanism that protects workers' rights and holds non-compliant actors accountable, as well as a new customs verification mechanism to make sure that our trading partners are complying with international environmental agreements. These provisions were conspicuously absent from the original USMCA proposed by the Trump Administration but have since been included at the behest of this House of Representatives.\nThis new and improved trade deal will support workers, protect the environment, and bring down prescription drug prices. With that said, this trade deal is but a first step in creating even stronger deals which benefit American workers, said Rush.\nThe USMCA is supported by the following organizations: \nAmerican Council of Life Insurers\nAFL-CIO\nAgriBank District Farm Credit Council\nAlliance for American Manufacturing\nAMCOT\nAmerican Chemistry Council\nAmerican Cotton Producers\nAmerican Farm Bureau Federation\nAmerican Feed Industry Association\nAmerican Petroleum Institute\nAmerican Soybean Association\nAmerican Trucking Association\nAssociation for Accessible Medicines\nAssociation of Equipment Manufacturers\nAT&T\nBusiness Roundtable\nCampaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing\nCargill\nCoalition of Service Industries\nConsumer Technology Association\nCotton Growers Warehouse Association\nCotton Warehouse Association of America\nCottonseed and Feed Association\nEdge Dairy Farmer Cooperative\nElectronic Transactions Association\nFarmers for Free Trade\nFord\nForeign Policy for America\nIBM\nIllinois Farm Bureau\nInformation Technology Industry Council\nIntel\nInternational Brotherhood of Teamsters\nInternational Dairy Foods Association\nMotor & Equipment Manufacturers Association\nNarrow Fabrics Institute\nNational Association of Home Builders\nNational Association of Manufacturers\nNational Association of REALTORS\nNational Chicken Council\nNational Corn Growers Association\nNational Council of Textiles Organizations\nNational Electrical Contractors Association\nNational Farmers Union\nNational Grain and Feed Association\nNational Marine Manufacturers Association\nNational Milk Producers Federation\nNational Pork Producers Council\nNational Restaurant Association\nNational Retail Federation\nNational Turkey Federation\nNetwork Lobby for Catholic Social Justice\nNorth American Meat Institute\nSEAMS\nSecurities Industry and Financial Markets Association\nTechNet: The Voice of The Innovation Economy\nThe Software Alliance\nToyota\nU.S. Chamber of Commerce\nU.S. Dairy Export Council\nU.S. Industrial Fabrics Institute\nU.S. Wheat Associates/National Assoc of Wheat Growers\nUnited Steelworkers\nUPS\nVisa Inc.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://rush.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/rush-votes-in-support-of-the-united-states-mexico-canada-agreement-usmca"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.053627045825124, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
