These clean hydrogen hubs will create networks of hydrogen producers, consumers, and local connective infrastructure to accelerate the use of hydrogen as a clean energy carrier that can deliver or store tremendous amounts of energy. PNWH2 Hub’s selection follows a competitive nationwide process and will now enter negotiations with DOE for initial federal funding.

“I am so excited to announce that the Pacific Northwest will soon be home to a brand-new hydrogen hub. This historic investment will accelerate the transition to clean energy and create thousands of good-paying jobs in Oregon and across our region,” said Rep. Salinas. “I want to thank Secretary Granholm and the Biden Administration for investing in Oregonians’ livelihoods and futures. As the PNWH2 Hub advances to the next steps in this process, I will continue working to ensure this project is fully funded.”

The PNWH2 Hub will span Washington, Oregon, and Montana, and plans to leverage the region’s abundant renewable resources to produce clean hydrogen exclusively via electrolysis. It will create an estimated 10,000 direct jobs, including 8,050 in construction jobs and 350 permanent jobs, and remove approximately 1 million metric tons per year of CO2 emissions from the atmosphere—equivalent to emissions from roughly 220,000 gasoline-powered cars annually.

The PNWH2 Hub is eligible to receive up to $1 billion in federal funding over four DOE-defined development phases spanning nine years, with $20 million allocated for Phase 1. DOE and the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association will negotiate the final funding and scope for the hub beginning this fall.

For more information and updates on the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association, visit pnwh2.com.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T00:49:26Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://salinas.house.gov/media/press-releases/salinas-announces-new-pacific-northwest-hydrogen-hub
