Home", "2013-08-19", "2013", "2013-08", "Independent", "House", "VT", "Bernard Sanders", "S000033", "sanders.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Sanders Welcomes Good News for Vermont Veterans\u2019 Home  \n\t\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\tMonday, August 19, 2013\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\tBURLINGTON, Vt., Aug. 19 \u2013 U.S. Senate Veterans\u2019 Affairs Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today welcomed a finding by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that the state-run Vermont Veterans Home passed an inspection and is no longer in danger of losing Medicare and Medicaid funding.\r\n\u201cI am very pleased that CMS found the Vermont Veterans\u2019 Home \u2018in compliance\u2019 and that federal funding will not be withdrawn from that facility,\u201d Sanders said.\r\n\u201cAs chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans\u2019 Affairs, I am pleased at the progress we are seeing at the veterans\u2019 home. I am committed to making sure the men and women who have served our country in uniform receive the benefits they have earned and deserve. The veterans of our state and region are entitled to the best quality nursing care possible, and that is what the veterans\u2019 home must provide,\u201d Sanders said.\r\nSanders on Aug. 8 hosted a meeting in Montpelier with senior officials in Gov.
