{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://sarbanes.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/sarbanes-announces-320-million-in-new-tax-credits-for-maryland-companies", "Sarbanes Announces $320 Million in New Tax Credits for Maryland Companies", "2016-11-18", "2016", "2016-11", "Democrat", "House", "MD", "John Sarbanes", "S001168", "sarbanes.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today announced that the U.S. Department of the Treasury\u2019s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) will provide Maryland companies with $320 million in tax credits to spur economic growth and investment in low-income communities.\nThe tax credits come from the CDFI Fund\u2019s New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) awards, which will provide 120 organizations around the country with a total of $7 billion in tax credits to invest in community projects that improve public facilities, good and services \u2013 and create more jobs. This year\u2019s NMTC award is the single largest investment since the program\u2019s inception in 2001.\n\u201cThis program helps stimulate local distressed communities,\u201d said Congressman Sarbanes. \u201cBy making these kinds of investments, we\u2019re not only creating more job opportunities and improving goods and services.
