Schweikert Contact: Preston Mizell\n\nWASHINGTON D.C. \u2013 Congressman David Schweikert issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 7900, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).\n\n\u201c$850 billion in federal government spending just passed the House as inflation hits 12.3% in Phoenix,\u201d said Rep. Schweikert. \u201cI am fully in favor of positioning our military to maintain our national security edge, but this bill fails to accomplish that goal.\n\n\u201cI offered an amendment just last week to cut $6 billion in \u2018inflation adjustment\u2019 spending from this NDAA. The Democrats not only chose to reject my amendment, they then filled this annual policy bill with progressive priorities like funds for green vehicles and \u2018plant based\u2019 meats while missing the mark on operational readiness, like repealing vaccine mandates and addressing recruitment and retention issues. I simply cannot in good faith support this legislation in its current form.\u201d\n\n###\n\nDavid Schweikert is serving his sixth term in the United States Congress. He holds a seat on the Ways and Means Committee, and is the current the Ranking Member on the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Social Security.
