Terri Sewell (AL-07) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding $1,053,163 to the City of Tuscaloosa to support the reconstruction and expansion of Tuscaloosa National Airport terminals. Funding for this grant was made available by the American Rescue Plan, which Rep. Sewell was the only member of the Alabama Congressional Delegation to support.\n\n\u201cAs the only member of the Alabama Delegation to vote in favor of the American Rescue Plan, I am thrilled to see our cities and towns benefiting from such critical investments,\u201d said Rep. Sewell. \u201cI applaud the Department of Transportation for its investment in our infrastructure and continued partnership across all levels of government. With this grant, we\u2019re making important improvements to the Tuscaloosa National Airport and moving Tuscaloosa\u2019s economy forward!\u201d\n\nThis grant will support the reconstruction of the Tuscaloosa National Airport\u2019s 600\u2019 x 300\u2019 terminal apron pavement and connecting Taxiways A2 and G, along with an adjacent apron pavement area serving the airport\u2019s aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) facility.\n\nSpecifically, the funding will support the following:\n\nThe reconstruction of 28,000 square yards of existing pavement\n\nThe resurfacing of 2,700 square yards\n\nAssociated pavement edge lighting and pavement markings, including approximately\n\n4,080 cubic yards of cement concrete pavement (CCP) material\n\nNearly 8,500 tons of asphalt mix pavement (AMP) materials\n\nApproximately 600 tons of cement to be utilized for subgrade and base stabilization.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T03:08:33Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://sewell.house.gov/2022/9/rep-sewell-announces-over-1-million-in-funding-from-the-department-of-transportation-for-improvements-to-the-tuscaloosa-national-airport"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.7869970761239529, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
