Sewell. \u201cOur nation was founded on the idea that no one is above the law, not Donald Trump or any other president. America is a nation of laws, not kings, and we must be able to hold presidents accountable for criminal behavior.\u201d\n\n\u201cEarlier this month the Supreme Court of the United States undermined not just the foundation of our constitutional government, but the foundation of our democracy,\u201d said Ranking Member Morelle. \u201cAt its core, our nation relies on the principle that no American stands above another in the eyes of the law. I introduced this constitutional amendment to correct a grave error of this Supreme Court and protect our democracy by ensuring no president is ever above the law.
