Despite President Trump\u2019s promise to \u201clower costs on day one,\u201d families are facing higher food costs, utility costs, health care costs, and housing costs. Meanwhile, roughly 378,000 Alabama families are poised to see their food assistance cut or eliminated as a result of President Trump\u2019s Big Ugly Bill, and more than 190,000 Alabamians are expected to lose their health care coverage.\n\nWatch the video here.\n\nAccording to theglobal marketing research firm NIQ, as of the beginning of August 2025, egg prices rose 15%, beef prices rose 10%, orange juice prices rose 15%, and bacon prices rose 6% compared to the price of the same items one year ago.\n\nRep. Sewell\u2019s video follows the release of a report by Groundwork Collaborative detailing the ways in which Republicans\u2019 billionaires-first economic agenda and sweeping tariffs are making life more expensive for families.
