Shontel Brown (OH-11) announced she secured more than $23 million in Community Project Funding (CPF) across 14 requests for Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) in spending bills approved by the House Committee on Appropriations. Rep. Brown\u2019s requests were included in the FY23 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies spending bill, the FY23 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill, the FY23 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill, and the FY23 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies spending bill. The bills now head to the full House for a vote.\n\n\u201cIt is my honor to fight for Ohioans in Congress, and I am proud to have secured this much-needed funding for so many critical programs and infrastructure projects,\u201d Rep. Brown said. \u201cThese investments in key Northeast Ohio projects would create jobs, strengthen our infrastructure, and support working families. While there is work yet to be done to secure these funds, I remain committed to fighting for the federal funding our community deserves.\u201d\n\nThis designated funding would significantly impact Ohio\u2019s 11th Congressional District, including improving sewer infrastructure, public transportation, and roadways; supporting early education, workforce, and small business development; addressing access to affordable and nutritious food; reducing the digital divide; and building safer communities.\n\nThe projects that were funded in the FY23 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies spending bill are:\n\nCuyahoga County, MLK Boulevard Sewer Project - $1 million\n\nNortheast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD), Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Elimination Project in Garfield Heights - $2 million\n\nCity of Shaker Heights, Lomond/Lynnfield Sewer Remodel - $1.6 million\n\nThe projects that were funded in the FY23 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill are:\n\nCuyahoga Community College District, Smart Manufacturing Workforce - $1.22 million\n\nThe Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Inc., Community Museum Education Programs - $1 million\n\nUniversity Hospitals Birth Safety Simulation Center - $1.14 million\n\nThe projects that were funded in the FY23 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill are:\n\nCity of Cleveland, Memorial Bridges Loop Trail - $432,000\n\nDigitalC, Broadband Services for Underserved Communities of Cleveland \u2013 $3 million\n\nEducational Service Center of Northeast Ohio, on behalf of PRE4CLE, Cleveland Early Learning Spaces - $1.36 million\n\nGreater Cleveland Food Bank Capital Expansion and Capacity Building Project - $4 million\n\nGreater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA), Rail Car Replacement Program - $5 million\n\nUniversity of Akron, Center for Rehabilitation of Aging Transportation Infrastructure - $1 million\n\nThe projects that were funded in the FY23 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies spending bill are:\n\nCleveland Peacemakers Alliance, Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance\u2019s Violence Prevention Program $500,000\n\nThe projects that were funded in the FY23 Financial Services and General Government spending bill are:\n\nUnited Black Fund of Greater Cleveland, Black Entrepreneurship Training Project - $500,000\n\nThe inclusion of these CPFs in the Appropriations Committee\u2019s funding measures is the first step in the funding process. Rep.
