Through extensive community-based research and ongoing collaboration with clinical partners, we've pioneered innovative approaches to support recovery,\u201d said Michael L. Dennis, the Director of Chestnut Health System\u2019s Lighthouse Institute. \u201cOur commitment involves actively involving individuals with lived experience, enriching our programs and strategies. Furthermore, we're dedicated to securing funding, ensuring the sustainability and growth of these crucial initiatives, maximizing their impact on our communities.\"\n\n\"The Center is thrilled to be able to provide this important education to the community. We know our community members are very concerned about and committed to supporting our friends and neighbors who are battling poor mental wellbeing. This grant will give us all the opportunity to learn more about what each one of us can do to help,\" said Joan Hartman, Chief Executive Officer of the McLean County Center for Human Services.\n\n$486,685 is being awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to Chestnut Health Systems, Inc., to support drug abuse and addiction research programs that will help treatment professionals better approach addiction in Central Illinois.\n\n$196,616 is also being awarded by HHS to the McLean County Center for Human Services to support their mental health awareness training project that will equip others with the resources to better look out for those struggling with mental health issues.\n\nCongressman Eric Sorensen serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for nearly 20 years.
