Stansbury", "S001218", "stansbury.house.gov", "stansbury", "https://stansbury.house.gov/media/press-releases", "scraper", "WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2014 Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) signed a letter led by Congressional Labor Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Mark Pocan (D-WI), Donald Norcross (D-NJ), and Debbie Dingell (D-MI) calling on Amazon to respect its employees\u2019 rights and requesting information from the company about its anti-union activities.\n\n\u201cWorkers have the right to unionize under the law, period,\u201d Stansbury said. \u201cYet, across the country, there have been complaints that Amazon is engaging in union-busting activity and putting their worker\u2019s health and safety at risk. This is fully unacceptable. That\u2019s why I signed this letter with 115 of my colleagues\u2014because our workers deserve fair treatment and the opportunity to bargain for better pay and benefits.\u201d\n\n\u201cWe have heard concerns from our constituents who are scared to exercise these rights due to fear of reprisal from their employer, and anti-union activities from an employer as prominent as Amazon exacerbate those concerns,\u201d the members wrote in a letter to Amazon Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy. \u201cTherefore, in accordance with the NLRA, we urge Amazon to refrain from engaging in intimidation, retaliation, and other forms of illegal interference and to allow workers to decide on their own, whether they should join a union.\u201d\n\nUnfortunately, Amazon has been found to have violated federal labor law on numerous occasions, including public anti-union comments from Andy Jassy.
