During the same period, 10 million new jobs have been created nationwide, bringing unemployment to historically low levels.\n\n\u201cI grew up in a working family right here in New Mexico, and I know what it\u2019s like to struggle to make ends meet at the end of the month. That\u2019s why I have worked alongside Governor Lujan Grisham and President Biden to create jobs. In Congress, I helped pass historic legislation to sustain 24,400 new jobs right here inNew Mexico,while cutting costs for our workers, families, and small businesses facing the impacts of global inflation,\u201d said Rep. Stansbury.\u201cThe Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Actare helping to create good-paying jobs and lower costs for household essentials.\u201d\n\nThe new report from the Joint Economic Committee shows:\n\nHistorically Strong Job Creation:Data show that 24,400 jobs have been created in New Mexico\u2019s First Congressional District since President Biden came into office, and 66,200 jobs have been created statewide.\n\nClean Energy Jobs:Last year, 53,000 workers in New Mexico\u2019s First Congressional District were employed in clean energy and emerging sectors of the economy, and 25,000 more worked in occupations that will be increasingly in demand as the United States transitions to cleaner, more secure energy.\n\nManufacturing Jobs:As of September, 1,000 manufacturing jobs have been created in New Mexico\u2019s First Congressional District since President Biden came into office. Statewide, more than 2,400 manufacturing jobs have been created.\n\nBusiness Growth:Last year, 9,900 applications to start a new business were filed in New Mexico\u2019s First Congressional District, up from an average of 5,900 per year pre-pandemic. There were 24,300 business applications filed in New Mexico, up from an average of 15,000 per year before the pandemic.\n\nAmong the many job-creating measures that Rep. Stansbury has helped pass are the CHIPS and Science Act, which includes Rep.
