Greg Stanton of Arizona introduced the American Cooperation with Our Neighbors Act, legislation to increase cooperation between law enforcement, local governments, and non-governmental organizations in the United States and Mexico to combat trafficking of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids.\n\n\u201cThe crisis of fentanyl-related deaths in the U.S. has reached a fever pitch that demands a new, comprehensive regional strategy\u2014one that cuts off the supply of fentanyl flowing into our communities while slowing the violence and corruption that trafficking fuels in Mexico,\u201d Stanton, a member of House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, said.\n\nStanton\u2019s legislation would require the Secretary of State and Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development to submit a strategy to Congress to strengthen and improve:\n\nLaw enforcement cooperation at the subnational level, including bolstering technological assistance for agencies, professional development exchanges, and enhanced data sharing;\n\nCoordination and dialogue between local governments, civil society, faith-based organizations and business community leaders;\n\nCapacity building and provide additional resources for border towns to meet local needs.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T23:44:29Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://stanton.house.gov/2023/4/stanton-introduces-legislation-to-improve-cooperation-with-mexico-and-combat-fentanyl-trafficking"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8090510964393616, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
