This Executive Order represents a significant victory for American miners, many of whom are returning to work, and for American consumers, who will benefit from lower energy prices soon. The Golden Age of America is truly underway.\u201d\n\nPresident Trump\u2019s Executive Order on coal does the following:\n\nDesignates coal as a critical mineral.\n\nDirects agencies to identify coal resources on federal lands, lift barriers to coal mining, and prioritize coal leasing on these lands.\n\nDirects the Secretary of the Interior to acknowledge the end of the Jewell Moratorium, which paused coal leasing on federal lands.\n\nRequires agencies to rescind any agency policy that seeks to transition the nation away from coal production.\n\nDirects CEQ to assist agencies in adopting coal-related categorical exclusions under NEPA.\n\nSeeks to promote coal and coal technology exports, facilitate international offtake agreements for U.S. coal, and accelerate development of coal technologies.\n\nCalls the Secretary of Energy to determine whether coal used in the production of steel meets the definition of a \u201ccritical mineral\u201d and \u201ccritical material\u201d under the Energy Act of 2020, and if so, add it to the relevant lists.\n\nPushes for using coal to power new artificial intelligence (AI) data.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T00:33:40Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://stauber.house.gov/media/press-releases/stauber-applauds-trumps-executive-order-reinvigorate-coal-industry"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9998278692364693, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
