The act created the National Register of Historic Places, the list of National Historic Landmarks, and the State Historic Preservation Offices.\u00a0 Many of these sites are in New York\u2019s 21st District, driving tourism and ensuring the long term preservation of critically important historical sites throughout our country.\nNew York\u2019s 21st District includes hundreds of sites that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, such as the Adirondack Forest Preserve, Fort Ticonderoga, Lake George Battlefield Park Historic District, and Sackets Harbor Battlefield.
