Today, Congressman Steve King introduced a significant, capstone piece of legislation, The Refurbishing the Pillars of American Exceptionalism Act. The legislation, if enacted, would amend and improve Federal law in the areas of immigration, health care, the Constitution, education, trade, veterans' affairs, welfare, and tax, among numerous other areas. This large, comprehensive Act contains many of the bills Congressman King has championed during his nearly quarter century in the public service of Iowans and all Americans, including:\n \n\t\tH.R. 490, the Heartbeat Protection Act (the Heartbeat Bill)\n\t\n\t\n\t\tH.R. 140, the Birthright Citizenship Act\n\t\n\t\n\t\tH.R. 997, the English Language Unity Act\n\t\n\t\n\t\tH.R. 185, the ObamaCare Repeal Act\n\t\n\t\n\t\tH.R. 385, Sarah's Law\n\t\n\t\n\t\tH.R. 902, the Protect American IPR Act\n\t\n\t\n\t\tH.R. 904, the New Illegal Deduction Elimination Act (New IDEA)\n\t\n\t\n\t\tH.R. 1319, the Davis-Bacon Repeal Act\n\t\n\t\n\t\tH.R. 1320, the Census Accuracy Act\n\t\n\t\n\t\tH.R. 4651, the American Future Healthcare Act\n\t\n King's legislation also includes the FAIR Tax, repeal of the 16th Amendment, and a prescription for substantive welfare reform, among many other important provisions.\nFrom the start of my service in elected office, I committed to my constituents that I would work tirelessly for them and stay true to my principles, said King. This legislation is a capstone of my legislative work to make good on those promises to my constituents, while always simultaneously endeavoring to refurbish the pillars of American Exceptionalism. It is significant because it not only includes a comprehensive selection of the most important bills I've worked on and spent countless hours advocating for, but moreover because I have no doubt that if enacted, this legislation would set the United States on a path of cultural and economic growth that perhaps is unparalleled in the life of our nation. I encourage new Members of Congress and leaders across our nation to never allow fear, opposition or lies to stop you from being a thought leader and standing on principle.
