Kennedy Jr., Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), citing his dangerous actions that have endangered public health and gutted lifesaving medical research.\n\n\u201cSecretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has turned his back on science, on public health, and on the American people \u2013 spreading conspiracies and lies, driving up costs, and putting lives at risk,\u201d said Congresswoman Stevens. \u201cUnder his watch, families are less safe and less healthy, people are paying more for care, lifesaving research has been gutted, and vaccines have been restricted. He has driven up health care costs while tearing down the scientific institutions that keep Michiganders and families across America safe. His actions are reckless, his leadership is harmful, and his tenure has become a direct threat to our nation\u2019s health and security. Congress cannot and will not stand by while one man dismantles decades of medical progress.\u201d\n\nRep. Stevens\u2019 impeachment effort is supported by Stand Up for Science, an organization dedicated to defending and advancing America\u2019s scientific ecosystem.\n\n\u201cRFK Jr.'s actions are negligent and will result in harm and loss of life. He must be impeached and removed,\u201d said Colette Delawalla, Founder and CEO of Stand Up for Science. \u201cAs a scientist and a mother, I am not willing to go back to a time before robust public health interventions. For the first time in human history, we progressed from 30% of babies not making it to adulthood to over 98% surviving to adulthood because of modern medicine and vaccines. Eliminating effective public health interventions with proven track records and dismantling evidence-based science is not the way to promote health and reduce chronic illness. Stand Up For Science is ready to hold Secretary Kennedy accountable.\u201d\n\nRep. Stevens, who previously called on Secretary Kennedy to resign, introduced legislation to restore his cancer research cuts, and announced she was drafting articles of impeachment in September, said his repeated abuses of power, disregard for science, and pattern of misinformation have left Congress with no choice but to act. Rep. Stevens\u2019 articles formally impeach Secretary Kennedy for \u201cabuse of authority and undermining of the public health.\u201d\n\nRep. Stevens\u2019 impeachment articles specifically point to:\n\nRFK Jr.\u2019s abdication of duty by cutting funding for lifesaving research, including:\n\nCancer research\n\nChildhood cancer research\n\nResearch on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome\n\nStudying how to combat addiction\n\nRFK Jr. severely restricting access to vaccines, spreading absurd conspiracies, and putting lives in danger:\n\nHe made promises to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Chairman Bill Cassidy (R-LA), which he has not upheld.\n\nHe pushed wild and unfounded claims in an effort to limit access to Tylenol.\n\nHe canceled research on mRNA vaccines and vaccine hesitancy.\n\nHe oversaw the closure of a network of centers working to prevent future pandemics.\n\nHe alarmingly hired David Geier, a known vaccine skeptic\u2013whom Maryland medical regulators disciplined for practicing medicine without a license\u2013to reinvestigate the long-discredited theory that vaccines cause autism.\n\nHe withdrew federal recommendations for COVID shots for pregnant women and healthy children.\n\nHis appointed panel voted to drop the universal recommendation that infants get vaccinated for Hepatitis B.\n\nRFK Jr.\u2019s failure to carry out his statutory duties in administering the FDA and CDC:\n\nHe fired every member of the CDC\u2019s vaccine expert panel.\n\nHe has politicized the FDA by calling it a \u201csock puppet\u201d agency, and oversaw a staffing shortage that has limited the agency's ability to fulfill its public duties.\n\nHe suggested eliminating entire FDA departments.\n\nHe ended public comment for HHS rulemaking, severely limiting the ability for health experts to be involved in HHS policy development, which was widely opposed by major public health advocates and supporters of government transparency.\n\nThe full text of Rep.
