This is the first round of funding authorized by this new law.\n\n\u201cWith this new funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, we will be able to start fixing our roads and bridges so that South Sound residents travel on infrastructure that is safe and reliable,\u201d said Congresswoman Strickland. \u201cThanks to the bold leadership from President Biden, House Democrats and our entire delegation, these federal dollars will be critical in taking much-needed steps to rebuild our state\u2019s roads and bridges while creating thousands of good-paying jobs. South Sound residents can look forward to cuts in commute times and the ability to help small businesses get goods to market in more efficient ways. I was proud to vote for this historic legislation \u2013 which will make a tremendous difference in the lives of South Sound residents \u2013 and I look forward to seeing more federal funding from the bipartisan infrastructure law flow into our communities.\u201d\n\nThe historic and bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, signed into law by President Biden on November 15th, secured new federal funding for highway and bridge repair for communities across the nation. The funds, administered by the Federal-aid Highway Program, can be used for the construction, reconstruction or improvement. The American Society of Civil Engineers gave Washington State a C on its Infrastructure Report Card, finding many deficiencies that require immediate attention.
