She also led a bicameral push to create a reproductive health travel fund to provide grant assistance for women who are forced to travel long distances for reproductive and abortion care.\n\nPlanned Parenthood also honored other influential champions for reproductive rights, including actress Leslie Jones who received the Entertainer of the Year award, journalist Imara Jones who received the Advocate of the Year award, the PP Gen Action Chapter which received Planned Parenthood Generation Action\u2019s HBCU Youth Award, and Kentucky State University student Eric McPheeters who received the Human Rights Campaign\u2019s HBCU Youth Award\n\nU.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. She is the Congressional Black Caucus whip, a member of the New Democrat Coalition, one of the first Korean-American women elected to Congress, and the first African-American elected to represent the Pacific Northwest at the federal level.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T00:37:48Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://strickland.house.gov/2023/09/23/media-press-releases-strickland-recognized-planned-parenthoods-2023-champion-reproductive-health/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8534612134099007, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
