Strong (AL-05) led a bicameral delegation letter to the commission charged with the development of a U.S. Space Academy, highlighting North Alabama\u2019s qualifications to host such an academy.\n\nThe letter, addressed to the Presidential Commission on the U.S. Space Academy, outlines the Tennessee Valley\u2019s legacy and commitment to U.S. space superiority.\n\nOn August 28, President Trump signed an executive order proposing the creation of a U.S. Space Academy, led by NASA, to \u201ctrain the next generation of astronauts, scientists, engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, civil servants, and warfighters to ensure that they are capable of advancing American interests in space.\u201d\n\n\u201cThe Alabama Congressional Delegation stands united in support of the President\u2019s vision to establish the United States Space Academy, and we believe there would be no more qualified place than North Alabama to undertake this critical mission,\u201d the letter reads.\n\n\u201cNorth Alabama is the natural home for the United States Space Academy. We have the people, expertise, institutions, infrastructure, and capabilities to lead a world-class Academy that prepares the next generation to advance American leadership in space,\u201d said Rep. Strong. \u201cI\u2019m proud to lead this letter with the support of the Alabama Delegation and highlight North Alabama as the best place to host the United States Space Academy.\u201d\n\n\u201cThere is no better place for President Trump\u2019s U.S. Space Academy than the great state of Alabama,\u201d said Sen. Tuberville. \u201cNicknamed \u2018The Rocket City,\u2019 Huntsville is already home to U.S. Space Command, NASA, and the Missile Defense Agency, not to mention the hundreds of private companies who support America\u2019s space and defense industries.
