Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Las Vegas, Switch develops and operates ultra-dense, renewable-powered data center campuses including \u201cAI-factories\u201d which are optimized to power artificial intelligence systems.\n\n\u201cSwitch is bringing the cutting edge of AI innovation right here to southern Nevada. I was proud to welcome Leader Jeffries to tour their new AI factory and meet the union workers who make it all possible,\u201d said Congresswoman Susie Lee. \u201cThe new factories Switch is building will help create good-paying jobs, continuing to diversify our economy. Lee for her tremendous leadership, which has helped ensure that the people of southern Nevada continue to play a leading role in the 21st century technological innovation economy.\u201d\n\nCongresswoman Lee and Leader Jeffries toured the EVO AI factory that\u2019s home to several of the world\u2019s AI GPU systems. In their conversation with Switch executives and union leaders, the Members discussed Switch\u2019s work to promote sustainability and improve energy grid stability, the growing AI industry, the national security implications of the AI race, and Switch\u2019s existing and on-going working relationship with Nvidia.\n\nAs southern Nevada seeks to diversify its economy, new data centers present opportunities to create good-paying jobs and boost the local economy while ensuring the United States remains a leader in AI innovation. Switch estimates that the construction of the new factories will create approximately 400 new jobs in Las Vegas.\n\nDuring the visit, Congresswoman Lee, Leader Jeffries, and Switch representatives also discussed recent threats to renewable energy infrastructure. Switch runs its facility on 100% renewable energy and has built solar facilities in Nevada to support its efforts. Investing in these forms of energy is especially important in Nevada, where the sun shines for more than 300 days a year and solar composes 31% of the state\u2019s total energy generation. Congresswoman Lee has also consistently supported renewable energy development in Nevada and spoken out against efforts by the Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress to undermine Nevada\u2019s growing solar industry.\n\nDuring the 118th Congress, Congresswoman Lee served as a Vice Chair for the New Democrat Coalition\u2019s first-ever AI Working Group.
