This week, Representative Scott Taylor joined 45 colleagues in sending a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy urging them to advance a bipartisan reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). This legislation, set to expire on September 30, authorizes programs that protect victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, and promotes educational awareness about these types of crimes.\nSince 1994, untold numbers of Americans have benefitted from the protections offered by this legislation. Protecting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault is part of our mandate as elected members of this body and not a partisan issue. It is important that we take up this legislation immediately to ensure this program is reauthorized on time so we can maintain protections for victims of domestic violence, said Congressman Scott Taylor.\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://taylor.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-taylor-joins-letter-house-leadership-urging-reauthorization-violence"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.0085489377379417, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
