Congressman Taylor initially introduced this bill on May 15, 2025, and it passed out of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee earlier this summer. Congressman Taylor serves as the Vice Chairman of the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.\n\n\u201cFor too long, rural southern Ohio communities have been boxed out of the federal resources intended for them, and this bill will right this wrong,\u201d said Congressman Taylor. \u201cIn the past year, I\u2019ve heard from countless local businesses about their need for these critical water resources that are unreasonably out of reach, and today I\u2019m proud to help deliver this win to rural communities across America.\u201d\n\n\u201cThe Water Resources Technical Assistance Review Act will help ensure that water infrastructure resources at EPA, which are available to small, rural, and economically distressed communities, are actually getting to those communities,\u201d said T&I Chairman Sam Graves (MO-06). \u201cI thank Congressman Taylor for his work on this legislation and for his leadership on this issue.\u201d\n\n\u201cGrowing up in Alabama, I have seen firsthand how communities are forced to do more with less, especially when it comes to critical infrastructure like clean water,\u201d said Rep. Shomari Figures (AL-02). \u201cThis bill will make it easier for underserved and rural communities to access federal resources.\u201d\n\nSpecifically, the Water Resources Technical Assistance Review Act would:\n\nDirect the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to evaluate EPA\u2019s clean water technical assistance, authorities, initiatives, and programs from the past five years, with an emphasis on the WaterTA Program;\n\nRequire GAO to submit a report to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee outlining their findings, with recommendations to improve EPA\u2019s clean water technical assistance programs;\n\nRequire the EPA to develop and submit a compliance plan to Congress based on GAO\u2019s recommendations.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T19:10:29Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://taylor.house.gov/media/press-releases/vice-chairman-taylor-applauds-passage-his-water-resources-bill"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7417420856654644, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
