All high school students who wish to serve in our nation\u2019s military service academies are required to receive a nomination from at least one member of their state\u2019s Congressional Delegation, the Vice President, or the President of the United States.\n\n\u201cIt is my honor to nominate these eleven dedicated and determined high school students to their desired United States service academies,\u201dsaid Congressman Tom Tiffany. \u201cTheir willingness to step up and answer the call to defend our great nation is admirable, and I want to congratulate each and every one of them on receiving my nomination.\u201d\n\nThe following students received a nomination to a U.S. service academy:\n\nUnited States Military Academy West Point\n\nBennett Hatfield of Hudson, WI \u2013 Hudson High School\n\nGabriel Goldbach of Weston, WI \u2013 DC Everest High School*\n\nLucas Sydlewski of Houlton, WI \u2013 Missouri Military Academy (MO)\n\nTucker Galindo of Ladysmith, WI \u2013 Ladysmith High School*\n\nWilliam Schorr of Superior, WI \u2013 Superior High School\n\nUnited States Air Force Academy\n\nGabriel Goldbach of Weston, WI \u2013 DC Everest High School*\n\nLevi Black of Merrill, WI \u2013 Merrill High School\n\nSloan Snedden of Eagle River, WI \u2013 Northland Pines High School\n\nTucker Galindo of Ladysmith, WI \u2013 Ladysmith High School*\n\nWilliam King of Frederic, WI \u2013 Frederic 6-12 School\n\nUnited States Naval Academy\n\nHayden Bergman of Hudson, WI \u2013 Hudson High School*\n\nPatrick Cunningham of River Falls, WI \u2013 St. Thomas Academy (MN)\n\nWarren Thompson of Hayward, WI \u2013 Hayward High School\n\nUnited States Merchant Marine Academy\n\nHayden Bergman of Hudson, WI \u2013 Hudson High School*\n\n*Nominated to two service academies\n\nStudents who received a nomination to a U.S. service academy must also receive an offer of admission into an academy. If admitted, they will be extended the distinct honor of earning a four-year university education with the commitment of serving in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.\n\nThe U.S. Coast Guard Academy manages its own selection process and does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. This year\u2019s nominees were selected by a local panel of judges based on academic achievements, civic involvement, leadership skills, physical aptitude, and character through an interview process.
