All high school students admitted into our nation\u2019s military service academies must first receive a nomination from at least one member of their state\u2019s Congressional Delegation, the Vice President, or the President of the United States.\n\n\u201cI would like to congratulate these nine hard-working and dedicated high school students on receiving my nomination to a United States service academy,\u201dsaid Congressman Tom Tiffany. \u201cThese students are striving to serve something much bigger than themselves, and I cannot wait to see this next generation of young leaders answer the call to defend our nation.\u201d\n\nStudents who have received a nomination to a U.S. service academy must still receive an offer of admission into an academy. If admitted, they will be offered the distinct honor of earning a four-year university education with the commitment of serving in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.\n\nThe following students received a nomination to a U.S. service academy:\n\nUnited States Military Academy West Point\n\nLucas Sydlewski of Houlton, WI \u2013 Missouri Military Academy\n\nBennett Hatfield of Hudson, WI \u2013 Hudson High School\n\nUnited States Air Force Academy\n\nMegan DeLeasky of Phillips, WI \u2013 Phillips High School\n\nIsaac Anderson of Hudson, WI \u2013 Hudson High School\n\nUnited States Naval Academy\n\nMark Jarman of Lake Nebagamon, WI \u2013 Northwestern High School\n\nShelby Hennlich of New Richmond, WI \u2013 New Richmond High School\n\nIngrid Holter of Hudson, WI \u2013 Hudson High School\n\nRyan Buehler of Ogema, WI \u2013 Rib Lake High School\n\nUnited States Merchant Marine Academy\n\nHunter Beese of Amery, WI \u2013 Amery High School\n\nThe U.S. Coast Guard Academy manages its own selection process and does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. This year\u2019s nominees were selected by a local panel of judges based on academic achievements, civic involvement, leadership skills, physical aptitude, and character through an interview process.
