While rendering aid, she was hit by another car and critically injured. Mary died exactly as she lived\u2014serving others.\n\nSince joining Gaston County EMS in 2021, Mary distinguished herself as a highly skilled, deeply compassionate paramedic and a member of the swift water rescue team. She was named B-Shift Outstanding Paramedic in 2023, a reflection of her dedication and professionalism.\n\nHer colleagues describe her as courageous and kind-hearted to every patient she encountered.
